  1. I've forgiven SU&SD for the ghastly review of Wingspan. But I will still only watch Matt's & Tom's videos. Particularly because I am also a massive fan of Fallout 2, just like Matt.

  2. I like honest reviews, this is one of them! Thank you a lot this is meaningful! ✌️

  3. I’ve never felt bad for liking a game until now.

  4. I had mixed feelings about the game as well. It's so undeniably Fallout with everything that expected to be there (getting loot, leveling up, quests, a good over all fallout paint job), but it just doesn't come together all that well (like getting influence cards that work against each other).

  5. Are the two hosts in a relationship to one another?

  6. I wonder how it plays now after two cooperative addons…

  7. And then came the Atomic Bonds expansion, which makes it what it should have been all along…

  8. I had this, played it solo, got the expansion, played it solo some more, and got rid of it last year. All I want is a good adventure game, one that doesn't require any extra tech and people at the store where I play would be willing to play; I have Outer Rim but my copy hasn't once hit the table outside of my solo plays.

  9. This was the video that first introduced me to SU&SD. I watched it on a whim and then was slowly sucked into the wonderful backlog of videos they had. And becoming a fan of theirs led me to being a fan of board games in a way I wasn't before.

  10. This game never brought any pleasure to the table. It was too much with zero rewards.
A big failure. Even with making our own rules, it was too much work to play.
Instead of making a fun board game they sticked to the video game too much, turning this board game into… a video game on a board? Which never works…

  11. The DOOM board game he mentions at the epilogue is quite good, bordering on amazing. It's Imperial Assault's gameplay with all the fluff stripped out. The minis are incredible.

  12. Will you consider "redoing" this review with the new Atomic Bonds expansion? I enjoyed this game, and Atomic Bonds made it even way more enjoyable.

  13. Unfortunately both the Fallout RPG and the Fallout Tabletop suffer from the same problems pointed out in this video. Ambitious and with a stunningly beautiful presentation, but they all lack in both mechanic and heart. Fallout Shelter at least is somewhat decent – but all of them would've gained so so much if just they'd been intended to be cooperative. 🙁

  14. Glad I’m not the only one who finds modern Fallout insanely disappointing and lackluster.

  15. Fallout 1 and 2 are gems of my childhood. I agree with you that Im not all for what it has become. Great review

  16. The New California expansion saves this game making it actually neat instead. Why? Co-op. You are now an adventuring party can can now wonder around the board to work together instead. Its so, so, so much better!

Still flawed but at least you don't have to steal stories from people.

  17. "I don't like Fallout, so let me give you my 13 minute review of their game…"

  18. I couldn't get past all the bugs.

    16 times the beetles.

  19. Played this a long while back and we actually manage to win, stupidly. The win conditions are tied to those victory cards for 'factions', so you can only really win with a faction, but the secret cards sometimes stack stupidly or make you switch sides. Long story short, twice someone just flat out went 'uhh, i won' someone else won with him, and then some dude which was 'in the lead' doing quests and stuff ended up now losing. Also, regarding quests, you can be in a corner, doing a little questline for a few good turns, and it gives you NO influence cards, which are the primary resource to win the game. So you're having fun, uselessly.

No idea why this is competitive, the entire faction/traitor/whatever mechanic should have just been fucking scrapped. We, like most people, started to figure out house rules to make it work, but it was putting lipstick on a donkey. We would have needed to rewrite a lot of the game rules to make it barely pallatable.

  20. Bought this and wish I'd seen this beforehand. The game took.a long time to finish with 3 players because of the random encounters, we ended up spending most time trying not to die.

  21. You should do a quick add on review as this game now has a cooperative mode with the Atomic Bonds expansion.

  22. I have this game… and I agree with this video. It's a bad game

  23. This is the only game review I have seen where there reviewer absolutely and consistently shits on the game they are reviewing the entire video. lol

  24. There is a co-op expansion, now, but I also can't tell why it wasn't in the vanilla game.

  25. Any update review on the coop variants / expansions?

  26. Me and three others in Discord played this game together through Tabletop Simulator and we absolutely smashed it out for laughs. We had a great time playing this board game. While it can be frustrating at times, we had more fun poking at each other because they just got closer to a Deathclaw and now they're about to get munched on the next turn alongside a death bot.

  27. I wont buy that Fallout2 is your favorite. Waaaaaay to much Fallout4 footage (99%?)

  28. Sadly I was about to buy this online and decided at the last minute to make sure it was a good idea. Sounds like maybe it isn't, and sure enough after watching this I've decided to not buy it. Judging from what this guy said, it might be fun just to sift through all the materials, but not actually play it.

  29. Man, it's weird to hear "fallout" and "enjoyment" in the same sentence.

  30. Ooh the dice seem interesting. Always on the search for new dnd battle mechanics. Rolling dice with body parts could help with rp.

  31. Would be interested to see an updated review with the Atomic bonds mini expansion that makes it cooperative!

  32. I remember buying this game and the expansion for about US$80.
Had to install like 30 mods to patch it.

  33. i think a clone of warhammer or dnd for fallout would be awesome

  34. So it's not for regular players of board games.
What about beginners then, did you try to make som newbies play it? Maybe they might like it better

  35. For a truly authentic experience, establish fan-rules in which players pay micro-transactions to "unlock" loot crates and to bypass the dice rolls. 😀

  36. Just realized that FFG did release coop rules for the game, would be curious to see this revisited with those rules.

  37. Tbh both me and my friends enjoy this boardgame. Only negative for me is that shared quests too often have one easy option – player can spend 3 turns doing hard quest and suddenly other player does other, easy option.

  38. Watching this in spring 2021 means that at the end when Matt invites newcomers to SU+SD one of the video thumbnails he gestures to announced that fun month is over and says NO MORE FUN in angry red letters. Wonderful!

  39. So what im hearing is that it perfectly captures everything about bethesda's FO games, all style no substance and hardly even works.

  40. why cant we be a faction leader and help rebuild the commonwealth and deal with managing a proto nation in the apocalypse? what like everyone im pretty sure wants now sins where all getting sick of just being a soldier..and no the minutemen general thing and building of fallout 4 and 76 arent really included sins they dont represent how it would actually work

  41. Gents, would love to see what you guys think of the co-op expansion "Atomic Bonds"?
Im interested in this game but most reviews seem to share most of your thoughts which has put me off. But ive also read that with the expansion its great!

But I trust you guys the most 🙂

  42. I have to say that I don't agree, the rad roaches are incredibly easy to take down. The only problem I had with it was that it was too long to figure out but short to play

  43. It's weird that they haven't reviewed the expansions that address they're problems

  44. Nice review, thanks! Very curious to see what do you think of the card game The Binding of Isaac Four Souls! They are offering the reprint now on Kickstarter, really looking forward to a review of that!
